Avord squadron becomes operational

French Air Force conducted a large GBAD exercise over the past few weeks, in the firing range at Biscarosse. The whole range of GBAD equipment was put to test: sensors, command and control assets and weapon systems, from VSHORAD to MSAM. The final point was a firing by the MAMBA system, on June 3rd. The firing, by a unit from the GBAD squadron (EDSA) from Avord Air base, led to the intercept of an air breathing target, within a complex and realistic training scenario, involving the complete chain of air command, from CDC/CRC to MAMBA, including the presence of friendly air. It was the final step for the squadron to reach operational qualification.
