Successful Test Firing of Aster 30
(May 2001)
A New Success For The Aster Missile
PARIS---A new firing test of the anti-missile ASTER 30 has been
successfully performed in a very severe electronic countermeasures
environment at the Centre dEssais des Landes (CEL) which belongs
to the French Delegation Générale pour lArmement (DGA).
This new success allows to confirm the launch of the system qualification
firing tests before late 2001 in PISQ, the Italian Firing Center
in Sardinia.
The Eurosam naval and ground-based anti-aircraft & anti-missiles
systems (SAAM & SAMP/T) are developed and manufactured in a collaborative
programme between Aerospatiale Matra Missiles, Alenia Marconi
Systems (the two companies will soon merge in the new European
missiles manufacturer MBDA) and Thales.
